Returns & Refunds Policy

Thank you for shopping at Simon Akeroyd (https://www.simonakeroyd.com). We hope you are delighted with your purchase. If you are not entirely satisfied, we are here to help.

This policy outlines your rights to a return and refund, in accordance with UK law, including the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

This policy is divided into sections based on what you have purchased:

  1. Physical Goods (Books)

  2. Booked Services (Virtual Calls & Experience Days)

1. Physical Goods (Books)

Standard, Non-Personalised Books

If you have purchased a book that has not been signed or personalised, you have a 14-day “cooling-off” period.

  • Right to Cancel: You have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your item(s).

  • How to Cancel: You must inform us of your decision to cancel by email. Please contact us at simon@simonakeroyd.com with your name and order number.

  • Returning the Item: You must return the book to us within 14 days of notifying us of your cancellation. The item must be returned in its original, saleable condition (undamaged and unread).

  • Return Postage: You (the customer) will be responsible for paying the postage costs for returning the item. We recommend using a tracked service as we cannot issue a refund for items lost in transit.

  • Refund: Once we receive the returned item and confirm it is in good condition, we will issue a full refund, including the original standard delivery charge. This will be processed to your original payment method within 14 days.

Personalised & Signed Books

This applies to any book that is signed by Simon Akeroyd or includes a personal message written at your request.

  • Non-Refundable: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, items that are “clearly personalised” or “made to the consumer’s specifications” are exempt from the standard 14-day cooling-off period.

  • Therefore, all sales of personalised and/or signed books are final and non-refundable. Please double-check any spelling for personal messages before submitting your order, as we cannot be held responsible for errors in the text you provide.

Damaged or Faulty Goods (All Books)

This applies to all books, including personalised ones.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. If your book arrives faulty, damaged, or significantly not as described (e.g., you received the wrong book), please contact us immediately at simon@simonakeroyd.com.

Please provide your order number and, if possible, a photo of the damage. We will offer you the choice of a full refund (including all postage) or a replacement item.

2. Booked Services

This section covers bookings for:

  • One-to-One Virtual Calls

  • Gardening Experience Days

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy for booked services is as follows:

  • Cancellations with 48 Hours’ (or more) Notice: If you need to cancel your booking, you may do so for a full refund, provided you give us at least 48 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled start time of the call or experience day.

  • Cancellations with Less than 48 Hours’ Notice: If you cancel your booking with less than 48 hours’ notice, or if you fail to attend the session, you will not be eligible for a refund.

  • Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate you, but this is at our discretion and subject to availability. Rescheduling requests made with less than 48 hours’ notice may not be possible.

Cancellations by Us

In the unlikely event that we (Simon Akeroyd) have to cancel a scheduled virtual call or experience day, we will contact you as soon as possible. We will offer you the choice of rescheduling for the next available date or receiving a full refund.

How to Request a Refund or Return

To initiate any return, cancellation, or refund request, please follow these steps:

  1. Email us at simon@simonakeroyd.com.

  2. Include your full name and your original order number.

  3. State the item(s) you wish to return or the service you wish to cancel.

  4. Provide a clear reason for your request (e.g., “cooling-off period,” “item damaged,” “cancelling booking”).

We will reply to your request as soon as possible with further instructions.
